I have in mind several half-baked, partially-prototyped ways of jumping to my various sources (and my own notes from various family members, family documents, & old genealogy books) and searching out shortest-possible-parent/child-paths between individuals, coping with multiple name variants, etc., but the task of parsing, isolating, extracting, and following the links through multiple sites has done little more than cause a lot of nail-chewing anxiety (I really dislike parsing with the exceptions to the exceptions to the exceptions, the nesting of parens, braces, brackets, vertical-bars of various sorts, quotes, apostrophes, German double-chevron quotes, triple-chevron quotes, escape characters, escape-escape characters...) and so, for now, I manually read read read, cogitate over anomalies, make human decisions, and type type type into these web pages.

Link to section with portraits/pictures, for some of which we do not have names of the individuals nor photographers, nor photography studios, locations, etc. The last one who knew the names tried to give me some of these back around 1984, but I did not have a safe place for them and asked her to write the names on the backs/edges of the frames, but, alas, that did not happen and she is gone, and the other family member to which she passed them is gone, and the family members who then found them did not know. This is how information is lost. A distant cousin recognized one of them, and claimed to have seen a slightly different photo of the same person, but beyond that, we have been stumped.

Who was Ethe Hannay? Was he the same as Aedh Hannay (i.e. is "dh" a substitute/equivalent of the "thorn" character)?
Tree conflicts?
It could be that Odo=Ethe, because there are historical figures referred to as Aedh or Ethe, but then some sources equivalence Aedh with Hugh.

Am wary of the marriages connecting Hannas/Hannays with the MacDowalls, Stewarts of Dalswinton & Garlies, Stewarts of Bonkyl, Patterson with Pendleton with lots of old Virginia cousinages, but not wary enough to write them off so far (especially what with leaving home to go to university 700-900 miles away from relatives... only to find I had been working there with distant cousins at a university founded by a distant relative via marriages, at a state agency with an uncle of a friend of my mother's, glancing up from a sidewalk near the library to notice the grave-stones of distant relations by marriage, working at a national lab with my apartment on the other side of what was once the farm of a relation via marriage through the above-entioned Pendletons, with an office along a roadway named for another, that another not-so-distant relative had been chief supreme-court judge in the state where my head-hunter was based and where a close relative lived for a time, etc.).
