* reform regulation and taxation of charities (differentiate genuine charities from political campaign organizations and crony socialist cabals) and encourage, without subsidizing, mutual benefit associations
* cut immigration/green cards/LPR visas to no more than 175K/year (about what John F. Kennedy thought was reasonable)
* cut O + L + H guest-work visas to no more than 5K/year (total)
* cut F student visas to no more than 10K/year (total) and OPT to 500/year for a term of no more than 3 months
* end visa waivers (everyone must pass a conscientious background investigation, regardless of country of birth or citizenship or most recent residence)
* fence/wall the borders
* terminate/eliminate permission to work from exchange / student exchange / cultural exchange visa programs (you can put on plays, pageants, dance, music, local craftsmanship & industry demonstrations, but not settle in to jobs in hotels, resorts, USA industries, craftsmanship, agriculture, etc.)
* phase out unconstitutional Medicaid & Medicare over 3 years
* phase out the unconstitutional Socialist Insecurity Abomination over 5 years
* end government subsidies for hospitals (and the attached strings)
* end government subsidies for scientific research (except for defense which should cover defense against biological warfare & epidemics)
* repeal regressive income extortion (i.e. repeal 16th amendment; replace with national retail sales tax with hard-cap constitutional top rate of 9.875% structured as a levy on the states)
* revoke the charter of the Federal Reserve System and establish a stable, hard money
* repeal direct election of senators (repeal 17th amendment)
* repeal the unconstitutional Federal Firearms Act and its amendments
* de-fund and repeal the charters of CPB/NPR/PBS
* de-fund the national endowments for arts and humanities and AFI
* de-fund the racist eugenicist Planned Parenthood
* de-fund SBA
* de-fund Export-Import Bank, World Bank, IMF, Asian Development Bank
* cut foreign aid
* repudiate biased, injust WTO, GATS/TiSA
* re-negotiate or statutorily repudiate/reset GATT & NAFTA

* cut Department of Energy by one-third to one-half
* set normal import tariff/duties/taxes to a maximum cap of 9.875%, and MFN to a cap of 8%, dumping penalties to at most 50%, and fraud penalties to at most 120%, eliminate exemptions to bring back burden to between 40% & 65% of all goods and services imported into USA with the aim of reaching an overall weighted average rate of 8%-12.5%
* adopt honest Country of Origin Label requirement for all imports to USA, requiring readable percentage of origin content for up to top 10 places of origin of parts & materials
* beef up export bans and restrictions for national security and to fight intellectual property robbery and fraud
* cut or eliminate HUD, HHS, NIH, CDCP, NSF; limit and focus their funding and work on constitutional functions & objectives
* cut or eliminate federal highway trust funds.

Youngstown Sheet and Tube had announced in 1977 that it was shutting down its Campbell Works and laying off 4K employees. Many directed their anger at president Carter for not doing enough to keep out the foreign-made metal being imported from Asia and elsewhere... Within the next 3 years, some 10K people in the Youngstown area would lose their jobs due to mill closures, during the next decade, 50K jobs there would disappear. Cities like Youngstown were being hollowed out by de-industrialization, a dry euphemism for the moth-balling of some 1K factories across the USA in the 1970s. One study estimated that large manufacturers were cutting jobs at a rate of more than 900K per year. "Production, the economist Jean Baptiste Say observed, consists of 3 broad stages. It starts with gaining knowledge of reality -- scientific knowledge concerning natural laws, the nature and potentialities of raw materials, methods of how to gather and use those materials. 'A lock could never have been constructed', Say noted, 'without a previous knowledge of the properties of iron, the method of extracting from the mine and refining the ore, as well as mollifying and fashioning the metal.' The next step, wrote Say, involves applying that knowledge in order to serve a human purpose: 'for instance, the conclusion, or conviction, that a particular form, communicated to the metal, will furnish the means of closing a door to all the wards, except to the possessor of the key'. Finally, labor is used to carry out the plan set forth in stages 1 and 2, 'as, for instance, the forging, filing, and putting together of the different component parts of the lock... These 3 operations are seldom performed by 1 and the same person. It commonly happens, that 1 man studies the laws and conduct of nature; that is to say, the philosopher, or man of science, of whose knowledge another [the inventor, engineer, business-man] avails himself to create useful products, being either agriculturist, manufacturer, or trader; while the third supplies the executive exertion, under the direction of the former 2; which third person is the operative workman or labourer.' The scientist, [the inventor, the engineer] the businessman, and the worker [craftsman] each performs essential components of the process of production. "There are plenty of precedents for Grand Delusions throughout history. Any doubters might want to consult Charles MacKay's _Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds_, first published in 1841. Among the economic Grand Delusions MacKay lists the Dutch tulip mania of the early 17th century [early 1600s] and the South Sea Bubble of 1711-1720... And cleverness, it seems to me, is almost a pre-requisite. The best example of a recent Grand Delusion that I can think of is the one that led some very clever people in the global financial sector to think that they could [under political pressure from such as Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, Bill Clinton, & Maxine Waters] relax the rules on financial risk, thereby discovering that all manner of new and exciting things become 'possible'. Lending money has always been a gamblers' game. But [government sponsored enterprises like Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac], banks and sub-prime mortgage lenders found that they could substantially grow their businesses by re-writing the rules on risk assessment and concealing the nature of this risk by salami-slicing [and re-packaging] the debt and selling it on to a multiplicity of other institutions through collateralized debt obligations [CDOs] and other 'complex' financial instruments.
At the heart of this new financial wizardry was Chinese mathematicisn David X. Li's Gaussian copula function. Li was lauded [praised] as the 'world's most influential actuary'. His function was used to model complex risk with a minimum of fuss [and information] and with [maximum ignorance and] apparent accuracy. It was applied by the banks and the mortgage lenders to set prices for their collateralized debt obligations.
Suddenly, [it was claimed] it became possible to lend money to institutions and individuals who would previously have been deemed high-risk borrowers. The value-set changed. Lending became more and more predatory [lenders competed to make deals with borrowers], and the result was a [necessarily temporary] property [price] boom." --- James E.
