why Sili Valley executives fall short when it comes to education
"Each year, many donate millions to...American colleges and universities that, together, graduate [about 135K more STEM students, and 11K more US citizen engineering students than] we did 25 years ago. STEM jobs [are expected to increase in numbers] by more than 17% in the next decade, but an aging STEM work-force, and [2 to 3 times as many US] students graduating [every year for the last 15 years] with STEM degrees [than land STEM jobs] means there are [well over 2M STEM workers not in STEM] jobs in the USA..."
STEM executives and their hiring managers should be actively recruiting from more of the thousands of colleges and universities in the USA which have bachelor's, master's and doctor's degree programs in STEM fields. They should be purchasing more display ads in print publications, as well as on-line and including their personal office desk telephone numbers, snail addresses, and e-mail addresses in those ads. They should do a thorough and secure erase of their applicant/candidate management systems and actually read resumes and meet with applicants in person.
