"I came into this world circa 1990 via Sturm, Ruger & Company -- a strapping young Mini-14 Ranch Rifle. Soon thereafter, I was sent to California and eventually was adopted by a very kind gun-loving family. I was fortunate enough to spend a good number of hours at the shooting range over the years, but after carefully observing the performance of some of the more popular center-fire rifles -- the military-looking ones -- I realized I wanted to be more than just an ordinary 'Ranch Rifle'. I've always felt inadequate bench-resting next to my like-caliber AR-15-style friends because of their awesome military-style looks. But don't let my somewhat innocuous appearance fool you – regardless of my own insecurities, I'm able to do nearly everything they can do. I chamber the very same .223 (5.56mm NATO) rounds, accept high-capacity magazines and sport the same semi-automatic action (pull my trigger once, and I fire one round, eject the casing, and chamber a new round to lie in wait for a second trigger pull) as do my AR-15 type friends... My owner did some research, and as it turns out, transforming me from a boring 'Ranch Rifle' into a military-looking weapon would be a fairly easy endeavor... suddenly, based purely upon my looks, it would be illegal for me to continue residing in the state I currently call home..."

"About 190 workers, most of them Muslim immigrants from Somalia, were fired from their jobs at a meat packing and distribution plant in Colorado this week for walking off the job to protest a workplace prayer dispute. Approximately 200 workers reportedly walked off of their jobs at Cargill Meat Solutions in Fort Morgan earlier this month to protest what they allege were changes made in times allowed for them to take breaks in order to participate in Islamic prayer. According to the Denver Post, some workers later returned and were able to keep their jobs, but the majority stayed away in hopes of swaying management to reinstate a prayer schedule as representatives of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) -- an 'unindicted co-conspirator' in the Holy Land Foundation trial, which concerned fund-raising for the Palestinian terror organization Hamas -- negotiated on their behalf. CAIR is also helping the aunt of a seven-month-old child left orphaned by radical jihadist couple who massacred 14 people and wounded 22 others in a terrorist attack in San Bernardino this month gain custody of the infant..."

Almost 40M people have student loan debt, which is the only category of household debt that continued to rise during the recession. 15% of borrowers default within the first 3 years. The 90-day delinquency rate on student loan debt is 11.5%. This is higher than the delinquency rate for residential real estate loans (3%) and the credit card delinquency rate (7%). The amount of student debt issued and outstanding is now over $1.3T. While 11.5% is in delinquency, about 50% of this debt is in some form of grace period or deferment. Loans in deferment are not part of the delinquency rate calculation. The true level of delinquency and technical default is probably somewhere in the 35%-45% range. Since 2004, overall student loan debt increased by 325%, while all other categories of non-housing debt decreased by 5%..."
