H-1B visa program facilitates blatant racial discrimination
"Suppose there was a large, USA government-operated program that permitted USA employers to hire nothing but White Anglo Saxon Protestant (WASP) college-graduate men between the ages of 22 and 30.     Suppose that program, more narrowly, allowed major USA employers to discriminate in favor of descendants of men who had graduated from an Ivy League College before World War 2.   (After WW2 the Ivy League dropped its restrictive admissions practices.)     If that were the situation, there would (understandably) be hell to pay.   Law-suits by the dozens, marches, demonstration, strikes, civil unrest, discussions on the evening news, and maybe even more appropriations for the just-about-starved USA Equal Employment Opportunity Commission [EEOC].     The sad truth is, if you change a few words, that is exactly what the H-1B program permits; but instead of WASP males, the favored population is male Indian college graduates, perhaps largely from the south and west of India (and certainly not men from other parts of Colonial India, such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar (Burma), and very, very few women from the Subcontinent).     I have been vaguely aware of these recruiting, shall we say 'preferences', for years, but did not focus on the full extent of the blatant discrimination until Information Week published a list of the 8 largest users of the H-1B program in 2015 and the percentages of Indians among those hired.   The percentages are eye-popping:

Some of my older readers may remember the advertisements touting Ivory Soap as 99.44% pure.   Pikers!   Cognizant, Tata, and Wipro topped that figure, and 2 other firms were within four one-hundredths of a percent short of the goal.     The defenders of the H-1B program say that it is needed to bring to America the 'best and the brightest' [while adamantly refusing to clearly and openly discuss standards for what might be considered 'best' or 'brightest' or even 'qualified'].   If so, why in these leading cases do 98%-99% of the best and brightest come from India, and why are they virtually all men?   (I doubt that this is a coincidence, but none of the gate-keepers in the H-1B program -- not the Department of Labor, nor State, nor Homeland Security -- keeps track of these workers by gender.)     By hiring 98%-99% Indians, the out-sourcing firms are not only discriminating against USA workers, they are also discriminating against those from the rest of the world.     Is it because these companies are India-centric and largely, but not completely, India-owned that this blatant discrimination is not controversial?   Is it politically incorrect for the rest of us to point out that an Indian corporation is biased and discriminatory?     The 8 big users of the H-1B program generally are in the rent-a-programmer [bodyshopping] business; they sell the services of these H-1Bs to other corporations and play the role of labor brokers, rather than actually designing and manufacturing hardware and software.     Academic experts on the H-1B program -- that is those not directly funded by industry -- are convinced that the employers of H-1Bs favor them because they are $10K to $20K a year cheaper than comparable resident workers [$30K in some locations]; that the system, in fact, indentures them to their employers, and that they are a pliable, non-mobile work force that would not think of joining a union [or blowing the whistle on breaches of ethics].     Given these attractive (to employers) qualities, in many cases employers do not hire USA workers in the first place; in other instances, such as with Disney, they lay off the resident workers and tell them to train their H-1B replacements or else they will lose their severance packages.     Racial discrimination, then, is only one of many reasons why this program should be reduced sharply, if not eliminated."

"Those merry pranksters at the federal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals (9-CCA [also known as the 9th circus]) have been having their way with the immigration law again, reinterpreting it into an image more consonant with their Left Coast views.     I recently wrote a blog post about how the 9-CCA decided that California's identity theft laws didn't rise to the level of moral turpitude as a basis for deportability, despite common sense to the contrary.   Now they've turned their incessantly wandering eyes upon the matter of habitual drunkenness -- which subjects one to a variety of immigration penalties, including removal and denial of benefits or relief, for lack of good moral character.     'Not so!', says the court, over-turning a Board of Immigration Appeals decision upholding an immigration judge's finding that an alien was not entitled to cancellation of his order of removal because, being an habitual drunkard, he lacked good moral character.   Lacking any clear basis under law, fact, or even reason for its rationale, the panel reviewing the case decided to hang its hat on the 'equal protection of the law' provisions of the Constitution -- a Gumby-like stretch if ever there was one -- because alcoholism is an illness, a medical condition.     Undoubtedly it is.   But it is also a social plague with devastating consequences, which also deserve to be calculated into the equation when considering whether alcoholics can possibly exhibit good moral character.   It has been reported that nearly 30 people die daily as the result of drunk driving...   the National Council on Alcoholism tells us that alcoholism is a factor in 40% of violent crimes in America.   Are we to ignore all of that data?...   And, since we've been led down this path by the court, it's worth noting that under immigration law drug addicts are also excludable, deportable, and lacking in good moral character.   Drug addition, too, is a medical condition, but, like alcoholism, it is one with serious social consequences.   Junkies, crack heads, and meth tweakers stop at little or nothing to obtain their supply...   And how about pedophilia, which is classified as a mental disorder by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) in its 'Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders' [DSM]?..."

"Nine days after Hillary's visit, on 1996 April, 3, another Clinton representative arrived in Tuzla.   That would be Ron Brown, the beleaguered secretary of commerce.   The Tuzla leg was a last-minute addition to Brown's schedule.   According to daughter Tracey, Brown ordered an aide to stay behind in Zagreb 'to take care of a problem that had arisen with Enron'.   Writing in those innocent days when Democrats took such interventions in stride, Tracey blithely described Enron as 'a Texas-based natural gas company that was negotiating an agreement with the government of Croatia'.   No fools, the Enron executives would take their own plane to Dubrovnik the next day.   As history (barely) records, the Air Force plane that carried Brown from Tuzla never made it to Dubrovnik.   The modified 737 crashed 'inexplicably' into a mountainside just miles from the Dubrovnik airport, killing Brown and 34 others, including the Air Force crew...   As far as I know, when I requested the 22-volume Air Force report 8 years after the crash, I was the first person in the media to have asked for it.   The New York Times editors could not be bothered, and they had a reporter on the plane.   What follows is just one detail out of many that should have interested any reporter.   It involves a woman named Zdenka Gast, a Croatian-born American citizen.   USA Ambassador to Croatia Peter Galbraith entered her name into the official record.   Gast had been scheduled to fly with Brown to Dubrovnik on his fatal flight but thought better of it.   Said Galbraith to Air Force interviewer captain John Cairney, 'There were problems in -- in -- in this -- in concluding this deal where they wanted to sign a letter of intent, and so, rather than -- than go on the Brown trip, she stayed with the Inron [sic] people to do the final negotiations.'   At the time Gast was serving as liaison between Enron and the Croatian government.   'We've been looking for [Gast].', Cairney told Galbraith.   It seems the Air Force was not allowed to find her.   Investigators conducted 148 witness interviews, but Zdenka Gast was not among them.   I found her in 5 minutes of searching.   When I reached her contact person, I was told, 'Don't be surprised if she gets back to you in just a few minutes.'   I am still waiting.   Inquiring into Gast's background, I came across a Croatian language magazine named Gloria.   The photo that graces this article leapt off the page at me.   In the center of 3 smiling women, all linked arm in arm, is Zdenka Gast, an attractive, full-figured red-head.   On her left is the then-secretary of labor, Alexis Herman, the woman who helped arrange Brown's fatal flight.   On her right is none other than [Hitlery Rotten Clinton]..."

The aggregate employed/population ratio in February was 59.4%, 65.1% for all men (down from 86.2%), 54.1% for women (down from the maximum 58%), 48.7% for veterans (down from over 54.1%), 55.7% for "blacks", 60% for "whites", 60.9% for Asians, 61.9% for "Hispanics"/"Latinos", 41.3% for those with less than a high school diploma, 54% for those with at least a high school diploma, 63.7% for those with some college/university education, 72.6% for those with a bachelor's degree.   My (jgo's) estimates of the USA jobs dearth based on these BLS figures comes out to between 25M and 27M.
