We don't need more computer science majors. Only between one-third and one-half of our CS (and science and engineering and mathematics, i.e. STEM) majors with degrees are getting jobs in their fields of study. Within 10 years of graduation -- before they're 40 years old with a life expectancy around 80 -- less than 20% of STEM grads are employed in STEM jobs. Sure, maybe 1% or 2% just can't cut it. But the STEM employment agencies have all but disappeared, replaced by bodyshoppers/contingent/temp/contract/consulting gig brokers. Experienced STEM professionals discuss the impossibility of buying an interview. Visa and immigration lawyers swap gimmicks to reject all USA job applicants, to place job ads where able and interested USA job-seekers are not likely to see them...all legal, all thoroughly immoral. Repeated surveys show that the USA continues to publish more scientific papers (and more per capita) than other countries, though Red China has begun to catch up. While STEM employers before H-1B typically flew in at least half a dozen USA job applicants for interiews, they now at best insist that you call for an appointment when you are in town. While before H-1B they provided relocation assistance and 2-16 weeks of new-hire training of substance STEM employees (and 2-4 weeks for retained employees), at most they now give lectures on political correctness and other company and federal government regulations for a few hours. One STEM article recently featured employers planning on providing training at the rate of 10 minutes per month, a mere 2 hours per year. With public libraries disinclined to spend $50-$200 per volume for current STEM texts and manuals covering dozens of tools & programming languages & other areas of specialization, and many firms demanding that STEM professionals bring their own devices (their own computers robust enough to develop commercial software at $600-$4000 every year or two to keep up with planned obsolescence), and employment agencies that refuse to place anyone not employed for 4 weeks (in a time when average duration of unemployment has been running 31.6 weeks, median 14.5 weeks), literally millions of talented, knowledgeable, creative, industrious USA citizen STEM professionals are going to waste.

"...Wikipedia says that 24M Americans were playing soccer in 2006, while another source, Statista, puts the number at 14.74M in 2015. In short, millions and millions. Let's assume that no more than 1 out of 500 of the players (0.2%) is good enough to coach others; using the Wikipedia numbers, we would still have 48K potential coaches. Using the other source there would be 29,480 potential soccer workers [or by averaging the 2 estimates, 39K]. If we assumed that 1% of the players were good enough to be coaches, there would be a work force of [some 195K] to choose from. Ashley's Soccer Camp in Montclair, NJ, prefers to ignore these numbers and, as a result, hired a dozen foreign H-1B coaches at promised salaries of $18K to $55K a year. The camp did not, in fact, pay the coaches at the promised rates and, as a consequence, has been hauled into a Department of Labor administrative court and has agreed to pay back wages of $175K to the foreign coaches, as well as a $10K administrative fine... Note that the soccer camp -- presumably a string of them under the same management -- was NOT zapped by Labor for hiring the aliens when oodles of Americans would have been available for those jobs -- it was caught for paying them less than promised. It is not clear to me why soccer coaches, who clearly do not need college degrees, could be recruited within the H-1B program; that is a program for [workers with 'specialized skills', but with no specified minimum level of skills], usually college grads (or [fashion models of outstanding ability])... [While P visas are available for athletes, artists, and entertainers.]"

"Hijra, or jihad by emigration [pilgrimage], is a fundamental tenet of Islam hearkening back to the earliest days of Mohammed's war to establish hegemony over the cities of southwest Arabia. The most notable Hijra was the flight of Mohammed from Mecca to the largely Jewish city of Yathrib, now the completely Muslim city of Medina. While the story of how Yathrib came to be Medina is too long to recount here, suffice it to say that by fleeing the city of Mecca, where they appeared to be in danger of being eliminated, and appearing at Yathrib as 'refugees', Mohammed and his small band of adherents were able to reform the Arab Muslim clans, gain new adherents and replace the population and leadership of Yathrib with the Muslims who became the army necessary to reclaim Mecca and eventually spread Islam throughout the world. Sound familiar? It should, because on Monday the State Department admitted 225 'Syrian' Muslim 'refugees', setting a single-day record, and on Tuesday a further 80 were admitted. As our friend Stephen Dinan of The Washington DC Times put it, 'the spike is stunning, with more people accepted Monday alone than in the entire months of January or February'. As Dinen noted, [Obummer] has promised to accept 10K refugees from Oct. 1 through Sept. 30. As of Tuesday evening, the [Obummer regime] had approved 2,540 -- an average of about 10 applications a day. Less than 1% of these 'refugees' are Christians, whose oppression is well documented, according to Dinen 97% are Sunni Muslims, the same Sunni Muslim who form the Taliban, al-Qaeda and the ISIL/ ISIS/ Daesh/ IS/ caliphate. [Obummer] claims that these 'refugees' can be properly investigated and those with terrorist or radical associations can be screened out, but this has proven to be at best wishful thinking and at worst an outright lie of the same sort that [Obummer] and his appointees have been caught in time and time again. More to the point, senators Ted Cruz and Jeff Sessions last year identified over 70 immigrants from Muslim majority countries that had been arrested for terrorism-related offenses. And in January, Iraqi-born Aws Mohammed Younis Al-Jayab, who was living in Syria when he was admitted as a 'refugee' in 2012 was arrested on terrorism charges -- and he's not among the 75 identified by Cruz and Sessions, having been arrested after they issued their report. But in a bit of hair-splitting...the State Department counts Younis Al-Jayab as part of its Iraqi refugee program, not the Syrian refugee program [as though that were a significant distinction]. In a rational world this dangerous piece of [Obummer's] plan to fundamentally transform America by importing jihad into our country would be stopped cold by a Republican majority in congress. But this is not a rational world, this is a world run by the personal whim of arrogant Washington insiders, chief among them being [Dem/leftist/Red president Barack Hussein Obummer and RINO] speaker of the House Paul Ryan. Ryan has made increasing Muslim immigration to America his special project and has steadfastly fought any attempts by [non-leftists] to slow or stop what a large majority of American believe is an existential threat to constitutional liberty [as well as just plain excessive influx]. Ryan, as many [non-leftists] demanded, could have included a defund in the must-pass Omnibus that would have effectively ended or temporarily halted the program. Instead, Ryan wrongly claimed that restricting Muslim immigration to America was 'unconstitutional' and offered up a show vote on a standalone bill to address conservative concerns. Ryan's cynical ploy to keep funds flowing to the 'Syrian' 'refugee' threat was reminiscent of the ploy used by his mentor, former speaker John Boehner, to keep the funds flowing to [Obummer's unconstitutional an illegal executive amnesty] for illegal aliens program. In each case a stand-alone bill that would fix the problem was promised to divert [non-leftists] from trying to force Republican leaders to include a de-fund provision in the must-pass year-end Omnibus [over-spending bill]... Vetting Syrian immigrants is even tougher than vetting Iraqis [and running background investigations of them is a farce], security experts [including the DNI have testified to congress]... in Iraq, the USA [government] has a partnership with the government, has personnel on the ground and access to data-bases to review backgrounds [i.e. to make use of background infomation already collected, instead of starting from scratch]. In Syria, as last year's de-fund debate made clear, the USA [government] lacks all of those tools, meaning it may have to make judgments based on partial information, phony information [brief interviews of applicants by under-trained consular or UNHCR workers without polygraphs, without functional NMR] or no information at all. But speaker Ryan knew all of that before he refused to include de-funding [Obummer's] plan to bring jihad to America in the Omnibus [over-spending bill]. Speaker Ryan knew the senate was never going to take up, let alone pass, the bill to force [Obummer] to tighten security investigations of Muslim refugees, but rather than fulfill his oath to protect and defend the Constitution by defunding the program in the Omnibus [over-spending bill] he sided with [Obummer] and gave him the money to bring 300K more existential threats to constitutional liberty to [the USA]. Obviously, the background investigations for each of the kinds of visa were not up to what is necessary. Others have run the same sequence, e.g. before being caught boarding a flight to Red China carrying a computer and/or memory fobs/flash drives with national security/classified info stored on them. Ditto the Tsarnaev family, on socialist illfare, shifting between visa categories and expired visas, visiting the area they had supposedly fled from to the USA for asylum/refuge, passing through customs without being stopped even after they'd been red-flagged -- laxity after laxity, failure after failure of the current procedures. Similarly, there had been several warnings of Nidal Hasan, Syed Rizwan Farook, and Tashfeen Malik that were intentionally ignored.

"Only 4.5% of emigrants [between 1773 and 1776] went on the vessels that carried 4 or fewer passengers (half of the entire fleet). The vast majority went in relatively large groups, on board vessels that must have been primarily engaged in passenger traffic, loaded quite heavily with emigrants. Of all the voyages recorded, only 22 (5.1%) carried 100 or more passengers, but those 22 voyages alone accounted for the transportation of 3,649 people, or almost 40% of the total number of voyagers. The vessels that carried between 50 and 100 passengers account for another 2,471 people, or 26.4% of the total. "When Charlemagne met the personable English monk Alcuin (732-804) in Italy in 781, he persuaded him to come to Aachen (Aix le Chapelle) to organize a reform of language and of education. In remote YorkShire, Alcuin had set high standards that made his cathedral school famous across Europe. Charlemagne agreed, too, that the correct knowledge of Scripture required a correct command of Latin.
