The court pointed out that congress in 1789 July, before it passed the Bill of Rights, it enacted a statute that allowed customs officers to search 'any ship or vessel, in which they shall have reason to suspect any goods, wares or merchandise subject to duty shall be concealed... as this act was passed by the same congress which proposed for adoption the original amendments to the Constitution, it is clear that the members of that body did not regard searches and seizures of this kind as «unreasonable», and they are not embraced within the prohibition of the [Fourth] Amendment'. The original customs statute applied to something a customs officer has a good reason to search, namely goods on which duties are owed. Because the vast majority of Jordanians are Sunni Muslims, the entire staff of the UNHCR dealing with refugees was and still is Sunni Muslim. The female staffers of the UNHCR work in hijabs, and of course everyone on the UNHCR staff can recognize the Christian surnames of some applicants. The Christian applicants have been treated accordingly. Many Christian refugees were forced to flee to Jordan with their families because they had worked for the USA military in Iraq. As the occupation force downsized and contractors also departed, Christians who had worked for them found themselves not only out of work but targets of Sunni terrorists as well... The Dora neighborhood had 30K Christians before the 2003 invasion and by 2008 had virtually no Christians left. Of the 1.3M pre-war Christians in Iraq, perhaps 400K remain. Virtually none made it to the USA... Patrick Goodenough of CNS News, who has dogged this story, reported that with the arrival of 224 new Syrian refugee this week brings '...the total this fiscal year to 10,126, of whom 52 or 0.51% are Christians; and 9,945 or 98.2%, are Sunni Muslims'. Just one-half of 1% of the 10K Syrians were Christians despite the fact that over 10% of the Syrian population is Christian. The Sunni population at about 60% should not represent 98.2% of refugees. However, almost all of those working for the UN High Commissioner of Refugees in Jordan, where the 'refugees' were chosen, are Sunni Muslims... Prior to the 2003 invasion of Iraq by the United States, there were 1.4M Christians in Iraq..."

The president of the NAACP's St. Louis chapter, Adolphus Pruitt, has petitioned a circuit court judge to reject the St. Louis Metropolitan Taxicab Commission's conspiratorial call to issue a temporary restraining order that would force Uber to shut down. He says the order would negatively impact nearly 2K African-Americans who work as Uber partners in black neighborhoods that have long been ignored by taxis and other transportation providers... St. Louis taxicab restrictions are not nearly so onerous as those in some other cities. In New York, the license, called a medallion, to own one taxi costs $704K. In Chicago, the medallion price in 2015 was $270K, down from $357K in 2013. Boston medallions currently sell for about $200K, and that's down from $700K several years ago. The effect of these licensing restrictions is to close the market to those who do not have hundreds of thousands of dollars or are unable to acquire a loan to purchase a medallion. I'd ask my [leftist] friends: Who are the people least likely to have those resources?..."
